Yesterday I went to see the Color Purple with two friends and while in line I met this nice boy who was a med student doing a residency at a local hospital in NYC. Turns out he and his friend was sat right next to us in the show. While seated, I asked him his name he said Robert. Robert and I chatted a bit, and shared a few stories, chuckled a few laughs. I thought Robert is somebody I would like to talk to again, but how should I go about it??? Should I wait till the end of the play and say " Hey baby boy I'm really feeling you, and I wanna know what's good boo?" (Not very charming) But then I decided to do what I thought was most appropriate in this day and age so I asked him " Hey do you have a myspace page?"
He said "No, but I had a page on Friendster, but I never check it"
I was crushed. I had nothing further to say.
Later Joy and Denise and I left the theatre and went to go eat. At the table I said " Boy was Robert cute. But he didn't have a myspace page."
Joy said "Did you ask him from his number?" Dumbfoundedly I said no!
Denise said, "Well did you get his email?" Stupoundidly I said no…
I told them I thought about it but I felt if I asked him for his number it would be way too forward… and if I asked him for his email it would be weird … I mean you give some one your email they have the power to fill it up with all kinda junk like chain mails and forwards. But after another evaluation, started to realize myspace is actually more personal. You have pictures up, you have the names and faces to all your best buddies, you can also find out where you live work and play.
Yet it still seems less intrusive to ask for a myspace page address… do you are don't you agre
